Roger Blumberg has been a member of the RICH Board for five years, serving as Chair from 2008-2010. He is currently a Visiting Scientist in the Department of Computer Science at Brown University, specializing in the design and evaluation of Educational Software, and studying the impact of computing on society. He is also a member of the History, Philosophy and Social Science (HPSS) faculty at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he teaches Science and Technology Studies courses. A former NYC High School English teacher, he taught liberal arts courses at Columbia College for many years before coming to Providence in 1993. He has been working in the area of educational technology since the inception of the World Wide Web, first as the author of the award-winning MendelWeb (www.mendelweb.org), and then as Brown's representative to the U.S. Department of Education's OERI-sponsored NetTech. He is currently the Director of Evaluation of Mendele Education LLC, a company specializing in program evaluation and, since 2009, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of State Humanities Councils (FSHC) in Washington.
