Encounters with the “Holy Land”: Place, Past and Future in American Jewish Culture

Dr. Beth Wenger, Moritz and Josephine Berg Professor of History, University of Pennsylvania, will examine American tourism and travel to pre-state Israel and the representation of the holy land in exhibitions and world fairs, as well as the symbols and the public culture of American Zionism.

A reception following the lecture will include an inter-faith discussion on what the holy land means to people of different faiths. The food will be kosher.
