Barrington Preservation Society completes Interpretive Signage Project

The Barrington Preservation Society has completed the installation of the Interpretive Signage Along the East Bay Bike Path project, highlighting historic places in Barrington.

The Barrington Preservation Society received a mini-grant last year from RICH to support their new project, Interpretive Signage Along the East Bay Bike Path, in Barrington. This project proposed to install along the East Bay Bike Path a series of historic markers to keep their rich local history alive.

Project director, Sydney Montstream-Quas says, “Through the work involved in doing this project, we’ve had the opportunity to learn much from local citizens through their captivating oral histories. As people pass the historic signs on the bike path, I hope those of all ages will recognize and appreciate the rich industrial, agricultural, and maritime history that Barrington’s citizens created more than a hundred years ago.”

On Saturday, October 2nd, they will be hosting a celebration of the installation of the signs. The event will take place from 10:00 am to 10:30am in Haines Park near the bike path. There will be refreshments and free map guides of the signage on the path.
