November Mini Grants

The RI Council for the Humanities has awarded $4,000 in November Mini Grant awards!

17th Annual Langston Hughes Community Poetry Reading
The College Crusade of Rhode Island
$2,000 will support an annual event at the RISD Museum celebrating Langston Hughes’ work and contributions to art and culture in America. The event will include many different voices reading from Hughes’ wide range of work, as well as a talk by Dr. Rolland Murray, who will give contextual information about Hughes’ life and work.


Sustainable Communities Initiative
Rhode Island College
$2,000 will support a series of public lectures exploring the intellectually diverse field of sustainability, including topics such as “Humans and Nature: The Wilderness Debate,” “Earth Day Re-examined,” and “Sustainability Ethics.”
