Lippitt Lab: Politics in the 19th Century

October 15, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$5 – $12

Think today’s political landscape is contentious? Travel back to the Victorian era and learn about the 1876 presidential election – perhaps the most controversial of all time – and why the man who won the most electoral votes did not become President. Find out about the first woman to run for President – nearly 150 years before Hillary Clinton – and how her campaign drew attention to the suffragette cause. Learn about Rhode Island politics and the role the Lippitts played in the state on this special themed tour of Lippitt House Museum as you gear up for the 2016 elections! Tours will be offered every half-hour beginning at 2:00 pm with the last tour starting at 3:30 pm.
