“VAMPIRES OF NEW ENGLAND” FILM SCREENING

“Vampires of New England” explores the gradual evolution of vampire mythology from stories of reanimated rotting corpses to the aristocratic Dracula, created by novelist Bram Stoker.

The 55 minute documentary film was directed by Westerly native, Alec Asten. This project is made possible in part by grants from the Rhode Island Council or the Humanities and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

This screening will take place at “The Blood is the Life:” Community Blood Drive and Film Screening event at the Museum of Work and Culture, featuring Dacre Stoker, great-grand nephew of Bram Stoker, author of Dracula will give a special presentation “The Secrets of Dracula”.  Dacre Stoker will share rarely seen historical images of source materials that informed and inspired the writing of Dracula.  Among Bram’s possessions was an 1896 newspaper clipping that references vampires in Rhode Island.
