Rhode Island Humanities is pleased to announce four public project grants through the November 2024 mini grant cycle totaling $7,665. Recipients include:
Public Project Grants
Alexander Herbert, $2,000 to The Rhode Island History Podcast
Funds support recording, production, and advertising for Season 3 of the Rhode Island History Podcast, which features academic and popular historians, archivists, conservationists, and librarians who preserve and promote Rhode Island’s histories.
Jamestown Art Center , $1,860 to Perspectives in Progress: Disability Advocacy 32 Years After the Ladd School
Funds support a film screening of “Best Judgment: Ladd School Lessons” and a panel discussion with filmmakers, scholars, and disability arts advocates on the treatment of and attitudes towards people with disabilities in Rhode Island historically and currently. The discussion will be filmed, shared, and incorporated into a concurrent exhibition of work by artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Hannah Little, $1,805 to Write to Grow Workshop Series
Funds support six writing workshops for older adults in independent living, assisted living, and long-term care facilities at Saint Elizabeth Home (East Greenwich), Saint Elizabeth Apartments for Seniors (Warwick) and Saint Elizabeth Apartments for Seniors and Mobility-Impaired (Providence).
Rhode Island Computer Museum, $2,000 to History of Data Storage: From the Archival Crypt
Supports the creation of an online and physical exhibition that explains the history of data storage in Rhode Island and beyond, including a timeline of data storage advancements. It will also support the digitization of Rhode Island Computer Museum’s archival records related to this history, and the incorporation of this content into the MET School curriculum.
