10th Annual Urban Pond Procession
“Stories of Mashapaug Pond”
Saturday, May 13 (rain date May 14)
Park at Alvarez High School, then walk down Crescent Ave and Reservoir Ave to the start of the Procession. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on during the Finale!

5:30 PM Mashapaug Pond Boathouse (behind Ocean State Plaza, 361 Reservoir Ave, Providence)
Gather to the sounds of the Eastern Medicine Singers. Find a costume, sign, banner, percussion instrument or prop to celebrate our 1 mile walk with Extraordinary Rendition Band, Big Nazo Puppets and What Cheer Brigade.

6:15 PM Reservoir Avenue School (156 Reservoir Ave)
We’ll stop to hear the Extraordinary Youth Ensemble and Medicine Wheel stories by Reservoir Avenue Elementary School students then proceed up Crescent St, Alvin St and Adelaide Ave to the newly remediated Gorham fields behind Dr. Jorge Alvarez High School.

7:00 PM Mashapaug Cove (behind Alvarez High School, 375 Adelaide Ave)
Participate in a water ceremony led by the Tomaquag Museum and Gladstone Street School’s Kidventure. Interpretive signs about Mashapaug Pond that students at Alvarez and Central High Schools created with artist Anna Snyder will be displayed along with a large comic book by students from Bain+2 under the guidance of artist Walker Mettling. Your feedback on the signs appreciated.

7:15-8:45 PM New park (behind Alvarez High School, 375 Adelaide Ave)
Finale starts with music by Mike Capeles and Phil Edmonds, and includes presentations by Alvarez and Central High Schools, Bain+2, speakers, performances by Sokeo Ros/Case Closed, TAPA and Erik Carlson and Erik Gould performing Silvered: Tracing Gorham at Mashapaug Pond.
