Join the RI Center for the Book this Saturday, 3pm at Aurora – 276 Westminster Street – for a Writer’s Feast!
A Writer’s Feast offers attendees of all backgrounds, from the ambitious to the accomplished writer, an opportunity to learn about various Rhode Island writers, writing groups and organizations. While writing occurs alone, all writers need community—for support, encouragement, deadlines, connection. We invite anyone with an interest in writing and in connecting with the varied writing communities in Rhode Island to come give a listen as these groups talk about the work they do—and then participate in free, one-hour small group writing workshops, followed by a mixer where all attendees and participants can gather.
The panel includes eight different individuals and organizations: the Association of Rhode Island Authors, an organization of over 190 published writers; Frequency, an organization dedicated to creating a community of and for local writers ; the HiFi Collaborative, a forum for historical fiction writers; author and teacher Kathryn Kulpa; the Ocean State Summer Writing Conference at the University of Rhode Island; The Poetry Loft, a literary arts organization for poets and writers ; the Rhode Island Center for the Book, a non-profit that celebrates the art and heritage of reading, writing, making and sharing books; and the Rhode Island Writers Colony, a writer’s residency program supporting works and projects for and by writers of color.
This event is free and open to the public. Presented as part of the Providence International Arts Festival, produced by the City of Providence and FirstWorks.
