Join the Rhode Island Historical Society on Saturday, October 1, at 7 pm for the 2nd Annual Archive Remix Film Festival! This year’s outdoor premiere screening will be hosted at the Old Slater Mill National Historic Site in the heart of Pawtucket.
The hour-long program will feature 14 3-minute creative remixes created by local professional and amateur filmmakers using footage from the RIHS Moving Image and Audio Collections (MIAC). Participating creators were provided with access to 300-minutes of archival footage and invited to remix the material into films with the tone, subject, or theme of their choice.
Gates will open at 6:30 pm. Ample parking is available and guests are welcome to bring chairs and blankets, as well as coolers and refreshments. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move indoors to the Blackstone Valley Tourism’s theater, located directly across the street from Slater Mill.
This project was made possible in part by Amica Insurance and a Rhode Island Foundation Community Grant, as well as event partners LittleFire and the National Park Service.
