The Manton Avenue Project’s next play fest is inspired by stories shared around the campfire. Ten young playwrights from 6th to 10th grade have created original plays and performance pieces devised together with their dramaturgy mentors at a four-day writing retreat at Nature’s Classroom in Charlton, MA, where we took a night hike and learned how to call to owls and coyotes. The resulting plays are spooky, fun, imaginative, and hilarious, and will presented as part of FringePVD July 26-28, Wednesday-Friday nights at AS220’s Blackbox. And then on Saturday, July 29th, MAP will kick off Family Fringe at Waterfire Arts Center, a free, family friendly celebration of theatre and performance for young people.
The Manton Avenue Project is a Providence-based youth arts organization whose mission is to nurture the unique potential of young people in the Olneyville neighborhood by unleashing their creative voices and uniting them with professional artists to create original theatre.
