Looking at iconic “fashionistas” from the 1950s like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, and iconic changes to the status quo like Christian Dior’s “New Look” and Coco Chanel’s suit, students explore what defined this era’s fashions. They create today’s interpretation on miniature dress forms using a variety of accessible materials including artist papers, fabrics and embellishments. This class will meet at RISD in a one day intensive workshop.
Students will have access to the library’s non-circulating Special Collections materials to inspire their own work. Work created in class will be displayed at the Providence Public Library.
