Becoming Muhammed Ali: A Musical at the Columbus Theatre

The Manton Avenue Project is thrilled to present this world premiere film of a musical adaptation of the 2021 Kids Reading Across Rhode Island book, Becoming Muhammed Ali by James Patterson and Kwame Alexander. Our 5th grade playwrights worked with local songwriters to adapt the book into a musical, starring some beloved local actors, dancers, and performers. For this project, we partnered with the Rhode Island Center for the Book and were supported by Rhode Island Council on the Humanities.

Starring MAP teen artist Tristan Miller as Cassius Clay, Directed by Tara Moses, Music Direction by Matthew Requintina, Filmographers Corinne Wahlberg and Stuart Wilson. With performances by Brien Lang, Jason Quinn, Ashley Soto, Shanel Smith, Pheonyx Williams. Dance and boxing sequences with Stephanie Turner of Turner Moving Company and Trent Lee from the Haus of Glitter Dance Company.
