Bristol BookFest

Bristol BookFest 2022 consists of a free keynote talk on Friday evening, April 1, from 5-6:30pm at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church (399 Hope St.) and a paid day program of speakers and informal discussions on Saturday, April 2, from 9am-5pm in Linden Place ballroom (500 Hope St.). It ends with a reception open to registrants at the Rogers Free Library (525 Hope St.) from 5-6:30pm.

Dr. Jay Baruch, a writer and emergency room physician on the faculty of Brown University’s Alpert Medical School, known nationally for his interest in bioethics and his championing of the humanities in medical education, will lead the keynote address on Friday evening, focused on the broad themes of Shelley’s novel, drawing on his own experiences as a doctor and avid reader.

On Saturday, Dr. Baruch will be joined by Smith College film historian Alexandra Keller; literary historian Declan Kiely, Director of Exhibitions at New York Public Library; Christoph Irmscher, Distinguished Professor of English at Indiana University; and BookFest Co-Founder Charles Calhoun, a Bristol-based biographer and historian, for a day of presentations and discussions.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: To support the safety of all audience members and speakers, only the fully vaccinated should register and plan to attend.
