Celebrating the Life and Work of Jeannine Chartier

Jeannine Chartier, Executive Director of Arts Equity (formerly VSA Arts Rhode Island), exemplified the value of collective responsibility – the theme for Arts and Humanities Month in RI this October. She was a tireless lifelong advocate for the visibility, rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in American society. She partnered with Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) in various capacities for more than three decades to ensure a voice for people with disabilities in the Rhode Island arts and culture community broadly.

This event, which will take place on Oct. 12 at the RISD Museum in Providence, will include a:

  • Panel discussion from 5 – 6 :15 p.m.
  • Creative celebration from 6:15 -7:30 p.m.

When you RSVP, you will select which events you want to go to (you may go to either or both). The panel discussion will have a capacity of 200, while the creative celebration will have a capacity of 300. As more details of the event materialize, we will send updates to registered attendees.

Panel will include:

  • Conor Moynihan, Assistant Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs, RISD Museum.
  • Casey Weibust, Director of Creative Arts, Looking Upwards.
  • Charles Baldwin, Program Officer for Cultural Equity and Access Initiatives, Mass Cultural Council.
  • Dominic Quagliozzi, Artist.

ASL interpretation will be available.

Co-hosted by Arts Equity, the RI School of Design Museum, and the RI State Council on the Arts.
