ECAS en Casa, is a virtual program series in which Teatro ECAS Executive Director Francis Parra interviews artists and scholars from across the Spanish-speaking world about humanities topics connected to the theater. Programs will be in Spanish with English-language subtitles and can be viewed on Facebook Live the night of the event. Katherine García Gil and Young Creators of Chocó, Quibdó, Colombia
Young Creators of Chocó is an organization that promotes social transformation based on art and culture to generate spaces for peaceful coexistence in Quibdó, Colombia.
With the project “that your first love is propitious”, it will generate a process of transformation using collective imagery with adolescents and young people from the municipality of Quibdó in terms of how to conceive their sexual education and sexual and reproductive rights.
In early 2021, to their over 63,600 followers on facebook, they published this decree:
“We decree this as the year of prevalence of the right to life, year of love, art and victory.
Thank you and thank you for allowing us to make it to this new year, thanks to you our audience for the trust.
We hope that this year we will be more, generate more protective environments for our young people and you, our audience will continue to see the magic of art from Young Creators of the Choco.”
Guest Scholar: Katherine García Gil
An artist, lawyer with a background in Government and Public Policy with an emphasis in Peacebuilding, García Gil is General Director of the Young Creators of Chocó Corporation where through culture, they seek to create protective environments in vulnerable communities inhabited by children, adolescents and young people.
