Shipwrecks! Fires! Hurricanes! Resilient Rhode Islanders have persevered through numerous natural and man-made disasters. Plan to visit the Center to see archival materials and artifacts representing just a few of these challenging events.
This exhibit is opening in celebration of the annual Kingston Fair Day, which will be taking place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. throughout the village.
The series “Resilient Rhode Island: Disasters & Determination in the Ocean State” is made possible through major funding support from the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities, an independent state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Rhode Island Council for the Humanities seeds, supports and strengthens public history, cultural heritage, civic education and community engagement by and for all Rhode Islanders.
