The largest annual Jewish pilgrimage outside of Israel is to the heart of the Ukraine. In recent years, some 30,000 Jews from around the world have been drawn to celebrate Rosh Hashanah in the small city of Uman, burial place of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, the influential nineteenth-century Chassidic Master.
Join local author Shai Afsai, who has twice participated in the pilgrimage and also written about it for publications such as the “Reform Jewish Quarterly,” for an exploration of Breslov Chassidic teachings and the palpable power of pilgrimage and prayer.
