You weren’t imagining those things you saw.
The City of Providence’s PARK(ing) Day installation Friday meant popups of almost three dozen of temporary, miniature public parks known as “parklets” in parking spaces across the city.
The annual worldwide event showcases artists, activists, and citizens’ independently turn metered parking spots into “PARK(ing)” spaces – temporary public parks to promote creativity, civic engagement, critical thinking, social interaction, generosity and play.
“As we work to build a more bike- and pedestrian-friendly city, PARK(ing) Day Providence helps us reimagine our urban spaces and is a celebration of the tremendous creativity we have in our Capital City,” said Mayor Angel Taveras.
