Hold the phone! Rhode Tours reveal Providence and much more

June 1, 2017 By RI Humanities

In mid-May the Council launched three new Providence tours offering engaging ways to explore the city’s East Side, Downtown, and West Side.

Rhode Tour is a joint initiative of the Council, Brown University’s Center for Public Humanities & Cultural Heritage, and the Rhode Island Historical Society that brings history to life through stories, sounds, and images. The Rhode Tour app is FREE to download from the App Store or Google Play and can also be explored online at rhodetour.org.

The tours were launched Friday, May 12 with the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (GoProvidence) at City Hall, including remarks by Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza. GoProvidence also produced three stunning maps available at local hotels and visitor centers that go along with the digital versions. Download the app today and hold Rhode Island’s history in the palm of your hand!

In addition to the new Providence-based tours, the app includes over 200 stories of food, family, culture, and community from Providence to Pawtucket, Newport to Little Compton that help visitors and locals alike explore every corner of our state.
