RECENT MINI GRANTS AWARDED

The Council recently awarded $6,000 in mini grants to the projects listed below:

Manton Avenue Project, $2,000 to TAG TEAM Project – Entrepreneurship Play. Funds support a playwriting program, performance, and community dialogue for 5th graders from William D’Abate Elementary School in Olneyville. The tag team play will focus on the theme of ethical entrepreneurship, and will explore Olneyville’s roots as a hub of creative entrepreneurship.

Daniel Snydacker, $2,000 to A Quiet Genius of Design: The Architecture of Robert H. Robertson in Rhode Island. Funds support a research project on Robert H. Robertson, a well-known and prolific American architect of the late nineteenth century, whose buildings continue to play a significant role in defining a sense of place in Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Jersey, and Ohio.

Rhode Island Historical Society, $2,000 to Combating Injustice: A Public Dialogue and Online Archive. Funds support a series of talks highlighting the crucial role that people of color have played in the creation and defense of local, national, and international democracy. Events will include public conversations about race, freedom, and how our collective history informs and shapes our shared present and future.
