Tickets Now Available for An Afternoon with Bryan Stevenson

March 6, 2017 By RI Humanities

Reading Across Rhode Island, now in its 15th year, is an engaging, state-wide community read program of the Rhode Island Center for the Book at the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities. On April 8, 2017 Bryan Stevenson, author of the 2017 Reading Across Rhode Island selection Just Mercy, will give a keynote lecture about the value of proximity in encouraging empathy and mercy in our criminal justice system.

The lecture will take place at 2:00 PM, with the opportunity for book signing after the lecture. Doors open at 1:30 PM.

Throughout 2017, communities across the state have read Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson – joining in powerful conversations about our shared humanity and what is required to create positive change. With generous support from corporate and foundation sponsors, this program has distributed over 2,000 free copies of the book to classrooms, senior centers, and libraries around the state.

Join us for this engaging lecture with Bryan Stevenson, author of Just Mercy and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative. There will be an opportunity to have your copy of Just Mercy signed immediately following the program.

Date: Saturday, April 8
Time: 2:00 – 4:00 PM
Location: McVinney Auditorium, 43 Dave Gavitt Way, Providence, RI
